Recap: Massachusetts vacation part 3

Mt. Washington here we come! On day 5, our family drove up to New Hampshire and headed toward the White Mountain National Forest. (This was my favorite day out of our whole trip. :) We stopped at the visitor center, and then headed up toward the mountain. (This picture below is of some birch trees at the visitors center.)

We stopped at a little pull over place along the side of the Kancamagus Highway to take some pictures of these stunning mountains.

After many hours of driving, we finally reached the bottom of Mt. Washington and started our ascent.

We saw some snow along the mountain as we were driving up. We girls had a small snowball fight at a little pull over place on the side of the road. ;)

This is on the very top of Mt. Washington. It was such a clear, spectacular view! And may I mention, it was also freezing!!!!!! The temperature was 50 degrees, but that's not what made it so bitterly cold. You'll find out below. :)
At the very top of the mountain was a little house, called the Tip-Top House.

Here's the stove that was inside the house. Unfortunately it wasn't producing any heat.
Our family was trying to pose for pictures with this sign, but the wind was blowing 60 mph, and sometimes it was hard to stand up. Some fingers were about to fall off!!!  ;)

These pictures were taken as we drove down the mountain.

As we headed back to Massachusetts, a bridge stretching across a river was spotted so we stopped. Sarah and I took our shoes off and stepped in the water. Brrrr! It was freezing at first, but after 5 minutes, the water wasn't that cold. The ice water must've numbed my feet because I couldn't really feel them. So Sarah and I waded across the sriver, which, by the way, was crystal clear. I didn't have a chance to walk across the bridge, so I have no pictures taken from the bridge looking down the river. But you can see it in the picture below.

Later on, we pulled off an exit and walked down to where The Basin was. While we were walking along the path, this beautiful waterfall caught our eye. The water was super clear and blue.

I really wanted to jump in this water and swim.
This is the basin. The water was an aqua color and so gorgeous.
There was a sign next to the basin, and it had this written on it.
The Basin is a large pothole in the Pemigewasset River, 30 feet in diameter, and 15 feet deep. The rock formation seen in the stream bed at the outlet has been know as "The Old Man's Foot". Here's a video I took of the Basin. (If anyone has any problems watching it, please let me know.)

After we left the Basin, our family dined at this little restaurant called The Common Man.

Overall, I really enjoyed Sunday, and would highly recommend driving up Mt. Washington and stopping at The Basin if you ever get a chance to travel to New Hampshire.

Here's a Bible verse I'm memorizing this week: Colossians 3:1-4
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Have a fabulous week.
