The Love of God

                     The love of God is greater far, Than tongue or pen can ever tell;

                     It goes beyond the highest star, And reaches to the lowest hell;

             The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win;

                        His erring child He reconciled, And pardoned from his sin.

When years of time shall pass away, And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall;
   When men who here refuse to pray, On rocks and hills and mountains call;

             God's love, so sure, shall still endure, All measureless and strong;

                 Redeeming grace to Adam's race- The saint's and angel's song.

    Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made;

           Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade;

                     To write the love of God above, Would drain the ocean dry;

         Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Tho' stretched from sky to sky.

             O love of God, how rich and pure!! How measureless and strong!!.

                      It shall forever more endure, The saint's and angel's song.

You know, as I was thinking about this song and how much God loves us, I thought of an excerpt taken from a letter that Dwight L. Moody wrote to the church in Chicago. Here it is.

The Greatest of These
"My heart goes out to you, and I long to see you all coming constantly to God for a fresh supply of love. I found a verse in 1 Peter 4:8, today. I never saw it before: "Above all things put on love." Think much of that one expression. Put it at the head of the list. Faith is good, but this is above it. Truth is good: it is a beautiful sight to see the church of God study the Word, but what are we if we do not have love? May the dear church get such a flood of love from on high that it will fill all our hearts. The last night Jesus was on earth, before they crucified Him, He said to His disciples: "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." Let us think on these solemn words, and may the love of Christ draw us all together so we will be as one man."        - Dwight L. Moody

And then I thought of this verse:  Ephesians 5:2 "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour."
It just amazes me to think of how much God loves us-to die on the cross so we don't have to perish forever. And when I think of all Christ has done for us, it just makes me want to love Him more.

Here is another quote that I heard. I'm not sure who said it, but it's really neat. "Once you get a taste of God's love, you can never get enough of it."

 1 John 4:10 "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins."

 Have a godly weekend everyone and meditate on these amazing verses. :)
