Thanksgiving

Then....2024

And....

Now....2025

Though the original Thanksgiving feast lasted for 3 days and consisted of 5 deer provided by the Indians along with corn, barley, beans, and squash provided by the Pilgrims, our evening party with ginger duck, rice, veggies, and cake reminded us of the blessings we have: brothers and sisters all over the world, ability to read and know the Bible and know God, and the blessing of fellowship with other believers.

One year brings much change.

One year ago, I would have never thought I'd move to China.

One year ago, on Thanksgiving day, I saw my grandma for the last time on this earth.

One year ago, I could not have known how much God would change me personally.

One year ago, I didn't expect that as God changed me, he would allow me to disciple a woman whose heart was also soft and open.

One year ago, I could not have known that through circumstances I wouldn't have chosen (but I'm glad happened to me in hindsight) God would reveal himself and provide for me in ways only he could possibly do.

One year ago, I didn't know such wonderful family members (as we are all part of the family of God), but I'm beyond grateful to God for allowing me to meet and they have enriched my life immensely. 💕

One year ago, I would have never imagined my life as it is now.

And what is my takeaway？

I'm beyond grateful God's ways are not mine. I'm beyond grateful he did not give me what I prayed for. And that as long as I'm staying close to my Lord and following him, life - even with its hardships and pain - will be the best adventure.

The Walkers are amazing people. I miss them. Going to their house for Thanksgiving made me anticipate the holiday every year I was in college. Mr. Walker brought Lauren and I to the gun range that December and we had a great time.
