Proverbs 19

In every verse in this chapter, wisdom applied or the result of wisdom can be seen.
But here's just a few verses to focus on that can help us in our lives.

Vs. 1- 3: "Bettter is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth. The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the Lord."

Some points I notice in these verses:
➦ Knowledge is knowing right, and wisdom is living right.
➦ Acting without knowledge and understanding leads to error and even sin.
➦ Wisdom teaches that integrity is more valuable than wealth.
➦ Fools can ruin their lives through their own lack of wisdom, but they'll still blame God for the outcomes. Many people would rather blame than take responsibility for their own actions, and not only will they blame other people, but also God. Blaming may work temporarily for other people, but it doesn't work with God and it definitely won't work when we each stand before him and give account of our lives. If more people started taking responsibility for their own actions, we'd have a lot fewer blaming situations and fewer problems in society.

Vs. 20-21: "Hear counsel and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless, the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand."

➦ Wisdom grows through listening and learning. A teachable spirit allows a person to become wise over time. A non-teachable person won't become wise. People are good at making plans, but true knowledge submits to God's sovereignty and guidance because God's wisdom lasts.

Vs. 25: "Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge."

When I read this verse, this simple diagram comes to mind.

                    scorner
              ↗
wise     fool
↖     ↗
simple

➦When the scorner is corrected, the simple takes note and learns from it. If the simple is corrected and he takes it well, he will gain knowledge and become wiser. We all start out as simple people. Simple just means "naive, immature, easily led or persuaded." We can either go from simple to wise by being led by God's Word and other wise counsel or go from simple to foolish which will end up as a scorner. Fools reject correction, but the wise grow because knowledge loves it.

Vs. 27: "Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge."

➦ Not all instruction is good, and wisdom will teach a person to discern bad teaching. Knowledge needs to align with the Bible, and even so-called "knowledge" from some Christians can be misleading and untrue so be careful who you listen to. If a person is not following God in sincerity and his walk says the opposite of his talk, be cautious of his advice. Remember that discernment doesn't come naturally. It needs to be exercised.

FORSAKE THE FOOLISH, AND LIVE; AND GO IN THE WAY OF UNDERSTANIDNG.
